July 22, Fineko/abc.az. Iraq is considering Turkey's proposal for a new energy agreement in connection with expiration of the agreement on oil pipeline Kirkuk–Ceyhan in the summer of 2026.
ABC.AZ reports that according to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Turkey is proposing a broader agreement covering oil, gas, petrochemicals and electric power.
Supplies via the pipeline stopped in 2023 after an arbitration decision on violation of the terms of the agreement. On July 17, Iraq and Kurdistan agreed to jointly export oil through a federal company.
This agreement is intended to improve financial relations between Baghdad and Kurdistan, which produces around 280,000 b/d of oil.
