July 9, Fineko/abc.az. In the first quarter of this year, Georgia's external debt increased by $300 million and reached $25.5 billion as of April 1.
ABC.AZ informs that according to the National Bank of Georgia, country's external debt is equal to 74.2% of GDP.
$11 billion of this amount is government-guaranteed debt, 88.6% of which is in foreign currency.
As of March 31, Georgia's net external debt stood at $13.3 billion, equivalent to 38.7% of GDP.
At the reporting date, the net public debt of the neighboring country was $6.7 billion, or 18.4% of GDP.
