Starting from August, users will be able to watch all the shows, movies, and Live TV previously available on Freevee for free on Prime Video - even without an Amazon Prime subscription. Freeview (formerly IMDb TV, launched in 2019) offered free movies and TV series with ads through a separate app.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to CNBC, that the company explains this by striving to simplify the customer experience and combine the offerings on one platform.

The decision followed the launch of advertising on Prime Video in January 2024. All users can now access Prime Video for $15 per month (as part of a subscription) or for $9 separately; the ad-free viewing option costs $2 per month.
