May 6, Fineko/abc.az. OpenAI has agreed to acquire the AI code editor of Windsor (formerly Codeium) for $3 billion.

ABC.AZ reports, citing Bloomberg, that the acquisition could help OpenAI overcome growing competition in the market for AI-based coding assistants capable of performing tasks such as writing code based on natural language prompts.

Windsor, officially called Exafunction Inc., recently negotiated with investors, including Kleiner Perkins and General Catalyst, to raise $3 billion in financing. The company was valued at $1.25 billion in a deal conducted by General Catalyst last year.
