September 2, Fineko/abc.az. Humanitarian demining lies at the foundation of city reconstruction and the creation of safe human settlements, with Azerbaijan facing the severe manifestations of this challenge.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made these remarks in his address to the participants of the 4th International Conference on Demining on the topic "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Reconstruction: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements."

The head of state noted that nearly 30 years of occupation by Armenia turned Azerbaijan into one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world.
