Number of payment cards in Kazakhstan declined in February amid restrictions for foreigners

April 9, Fineko/abc.az. In February 2025, the banks of Kazakhstan reduced the issue of cards of international payment systems, according to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, ABC.AZ reports, referring to RBC.

As of March 1, the total number of cards in circulation was 54.1 million, which is 4.6% less than a month earlier. The drop was the sharpest since the beginning of 2022, when Russians began to issue cards en masse in Kazakhstan after the suspension of Visa and Mastercard in Russia.
