April 7, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is actively investing in projects in the field of "green energy":
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Orkhan Zeynalov as saying this at an event devoted to the theme "Innovative ways to greener future: renewable energy sources &emission reduction“.
"These projects not only contribute to the diversification of the economy and the energy balance, but also bring significant economic benefits. First, development of renewable energy sources strengthens resilience to climate change. Secondly, it allows for the release of additional volumes of gas previously used in power plants. By 2027, we plan to implement 10 renewable energy projects that will provide about 2 gigawatts of installed capacity and attract investments for $2.7 billion," Zeynalov said.
The deputy minister added that the country has already moved on to the second phase of development, in which it is planned to involve almost 5 bcm of gas. He added that by 2030 it is planned to export 65% of the energy produced under renewable energy sources, and by 2027 it is planned to implement further steps along four key strategic corridors.
