December 26, Fineko/abc.az. China has given the green light to construction of world's largest hydroelectric power plant on the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. The new project, located on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, can produce up to 300 bn kWh of electricity per year, significantly exceeding the capacity of the current hydroelectric power plant, Three Gorges, the largest in the world.

ABC.AZ informs that the project will be a key factor in achieving China's carbon reduction goals and will boost development of related industries, creating jobs in Tibet, Xinhua news agency informs.
