Turkey wants to get exception from U.S. for gas purchase deals through Gazprombank

November 26, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, Russia ensured about 42% of Turkish imports last year and payment problems could pose a serious threat to Turkey's energy security, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar warned.

ABC.AZ informs that as a precedent, he cited an exception that mitigates the effect of American sanctions against Iran and allows Turkey to cooperate with it.

The agency recalls that earlier the actions of the U.S. against Gazprombank were criticized by another major importer of Russian gas - Hungary. FM Peter Szijjarto told Bloomberg that importing countries will "find a way" to continue supplies, after talks in Istanbul with regional energy ministers, including Bayraktar.
