October 30, Fineko/abc.az. The Iranian authorities have lifted all restrictions on the import of iPhone smartphones, and a new mechanism for their import and registration will be introduced in the country soon, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Minister of Information & Communication Technologies Sattar Hashemi.
"Today, we managed to get Cabinet Ministers’ approval to lift restrictions with assistance of the Vice President for Legal Affairs and the Minister of Trade, Industry & Subsoil Use. Details and rules regarding iPhone imports will be announced soon," Hashemi wrote on X.
On May 30, news agency Tasnim, citing a statement from the Iranian customs, reported that the agency had imposed a ban on the import of iPhones of any generation into the country.
In 2017, American corporation Apple, due to the sanctions imposed by the U.S. against Iran, removed all mobile applications of Iranian developers from its online App Store.
