Ex-head of Wex crypto exchange detained in Poland on a U.S. warrant

October 21, Fineko/abc.az. Dmitry Vasilyev, the former owner of the Wex cryptocurrency exchange, has been detained on a U.S. warrant in Warsaw.

ABC.AZ reports that Sergey Mendeleyev, CEO of the Exved exchange, announced this on October 19 in his Telegram channel.

According to Mendeleyev, Vasilyev is accused of helping to evade anti-Russian sanctions, and the extradition process has already begun against him.

Dmitry Vasilyev's mobile phone was seized, he tried to prove the absence of claims from Kazakhstan against him, it was informed.

Currently, local lawyers are working with Vasilyev, and his projects are "in the safe hands of his closest partners", the head of Exved stressed, adding that this is all the information he has.

The Wex crypto exchange was founded in 2017. In 2018, it effectively ceased to exist, depriving customers of assets and invested funds.
