October 8, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. threats to disconnect Turkish banks from the SWIFT system are forcing Türkiye to reduce trade with Russia.
ABC.AZ reports that deputy chairman of party Turkish Vatan (Homeland) Hakan Topkurulu made this statement on October 8.
"Türkiye cannot oppose Washington's pressure because of the U.S.’ threat to impose an embargo on international trade with the SWIFT system and the dollar," Topkurulu stressed. He recalled that Türkiye mainly uses the American dollar in international trade.
İn August 2024, the Financial Times wrote that Ankara faces unpleasant consequences if the export of American goods to Russia continues. And Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod insists on stopping the flow of "American technologies to Russia" from Türkiye.
At that, Türkiye officially declares that it is not involved in the process of circumventing anti-Russian sanctions.
