October 8, Fineko/abc.az. The wholesale price of high-quality Guba apples ranges from 50-60 gapiks.
ABC.AZ reports that the mass harvest in the area began in the second decade of September.
A certain part of the harvested fruits is sent for sale to local and metropolitan markets, as well as to other regions of our republic. And most of the products are intended for foreign markets, mainly for Russian ones. About 40,000 tons of apples grown in Guba are exported to foreign countries annually.
Farmer Suleymanpasha Shakhveliev says that the harvested crops are initially sorted and packed directly in the gardens. After that, the fruits are stored in special storages owned by farmers and in cold storage facilities operating in the area.
"White and red Palmetto are currently being harvested. The yield in apple orchards is good. We try to collect apples on time, otherwise the fruits fall from the trees as soon as it rains. Apples are divided into types on quality and size. Our products are mainly supplied to Russian markets. Selected apples cost 60 gapiks. Apples of the second grade cost 30-40 gapiks. And small fruits cost 3-4 manats per box," the farmer shares.
In total, there are 10,856 hectares of apple orchards in the district. 240 hectares of apple orchards have been laid recently. Of them, 1,520 hectares are intensively cultivated.
