October 8, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan defines types of activity to be prohibited in tourist and recreational areas.

ABC.AZ reports that this was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law on Tourism, discussed at today’s Milli Majlis meeting.

According to the draft, it is prohibited in the territories of tourist and recreational zones:

- activities related to the chemical industry, metallurgy, nuclear energy;

- activities of large industrial enterprises, enterprises of technological equipment and mechanical engineering;

- waste disposal and recycling activities, as well as activities related to the installation of facilities, landfills for this purpose;

- activities carried out without drawing up an environmental impact assessment document for the types of activities provided for in the annex to the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment and without conducting a state environmental assessment of this document, as well as other activities that do not require an environmental impact assessment, but are the object of state environmental assessment and carried out without a positive conclusion of the state environmental assessment.

The bill was put to the vote and adopted in the 1st reading.
