Earth to have a second satellite for a while

16:31 - 25.09.2024

September 25, Fineko/abc.az. This fall, the Earth will have a second moon for a while.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to The Guardian that according to a study published this week, an asteroid about the length of a city bus will be captured by the gravitational pull of the Earth and will orbit our planet for about two months, turning into a "mini-moon".

It will spend some time near Earth from September 29 to November 25 before returning "to his home", to the asteroid belt orbiting the Sun.
