Banks’ demand increased by 42.6% at currency auction

May 14, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), with the participation of the State Oil Fund, held a currency auction.

According to the CBA, at the currency auction on May 14, the demand of banks amounted to $ 107.1 million and was fully secured. This is $32 million (42.61%) more than at the last auction.

At a foreign exchange auction on May 7, the Central Bank sold $75.1 million to banks.

As a result of the auction, the weighted average exchange rate of the manat was formed at the level of 1.7000 AZN/USD.

According to the CBA, the relatively high demand is due to the fact that due to a non-working day, the auction was not held on schedule last Thursday.
