May 8, Fineko/abc.az. Several countries are working to reduce their dependence on the US dollar due to the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as out of national security interests.
ABC.AZ reports that IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath sated about this.
"Some countries are reconsidering their heavy reliance on the US dollar in international transactions and reserves," Gopinath said.
She Gopinath added that after several "years of turmoil" caused, among other things, by the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, states are "reviewing their trade partnerships based on economic and national security considerations".
