March 29, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, the current account surplus of Azerbaijan's balance of payments amounted to $8.3 bn.

ABC.AZ informs that CBA Statistics Department’s director Samir Nasirov said about this during a media briefing.

He added that this figure is 64.7% less than in 2022 that is linked with lower oil and gas prices in 2023.

"Following 2023, the current account surplus amounted to $8.3 bn, which makes up 11.5% of GDP. The surplus in the oil and gas sector amounted to $17.091 bn (a drop of 40.4%), the deficit in the oil & gas sector totaled $8.762 bn (a rise of 68.9%)," he stressed.
