January 23, Fineko/abc.az. In 2023, Kazakhstanis bought 38,729 measuring bars with total weight of 1.6 tons in second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the press service of the National Bank.

The program on the sale and redemption of refined gold bars for the population was launched in 2017. A total of 151,574 gold bars with total weight of 5.4 tons have been sold since the beginning of its operation.

Gold bars are available in five varieties: 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 grams. An ingot weighing 100 grams was most popular among buyers in 2023. Its share of total sales in 2023 is 28% – 10,910. This is followed by 5-gram – 9,795 ingots (25%) – and 10-gram – 9,409 ingots (24%), 50-gram – 4,818 ingots (13%), 20-gram – 3,797 ingots (10%). Basically, dimensional ingots are in demand in Almati, Astana and Shimkent.
