January 11, Fineko/abc.az. During the 20 years of Ilham Aliyev's tenure as president, the tourism and catering sector has grown 19 times.

ABC.AZ reports that Heydeniz Gahramanov, the chairman of board of the Association of Travel Agencies of Azerbaijan, said about this at the Forum of Tourism Industry Subjects in Baku.

He added that in 2003-2019, the number of foreigners and stateless persons visiting Azerbaijan more than tripled.

At that, the number of stays in hotels and hotel-type enterprises has increased almost 8-fold.

"The share of the sector in the non-oil economy has increased almost 4-fold - from 0.7% to 3.4%, the number of employees involved in tourist accommodation and catering 6.5-fold, and total employment in this area 4.1-fold," he added.
