January 9, Fineko/abc.az. In 2023, banks received 17% more profit compared with 2022 - 1.1 bn manats.

ABC.AZ reports that Zakir Nuriyev, the chairman of the Association of Banks of Azerbaijan, said about this at the Azerbaijani Financial Forum on the theme "Achievements & Challenges" held in Baku.

"The number of bank cards grew by 23% up to 16.6 million for 2023. Most of this growth came from contactless cards. So, over the past 12 months, the number of cards in the country has increased by 3.1 million, and 95.4% of them are cards that allow contactless payments. As a whole, over 76% of payment cards support contactless payments. Contactless payments account for more than 91% of payments using POS-terminals," he added.
