November 14, Fineko/abc.az. The price increase in Argentina in October made up 8.3%, and in annual terms inflation exceeded 140%.
ABC.AZ reports that this follows from the data of the Institute of Statistics & Census of Argentina.
"The overall level of the consumer price index in October 2023 grew by 8.3%, the accumulated growth [since the beginning of the year] amounted to 120%. Compared with the same month of 2022, growth was 142.7%," Institute’s report says.
Compared with September, inflation in Argentina has slowed down. Last month it was 12.7%, in August the figure also exceeded 12%. Nevertheless, Argentina remained the country with the highest monthly inflation in the region, surpassing Venezuela, where, according to the Venezuelan Financial Observatory, prices rose by 6.7% in October.
According to the compilers of the report, the prices for communication services increased the most (by 12.6%) in October in Argentina. It is followed by clothing (+11%) and household electrical equipment (+10.7%). Food prices rose by 7.7%.
Argentina has been among the countries with the highest inflation for several years. By the end of 2022, the price increase was 94.8%, in 2021 - 50.9%, in 2020 - 36.1%.
