Azerbaijan to halt import of risky food products from some countries

November 6, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is likely to impose restrictions on import of high-risk food products from enterprises operating in Poland, Lithuania and Brazil, that failed to pass approval, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan (AQTA).

In accordance with the Law on Food Safety, for the import of animal food products classified as high-risk to the customs territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, AQTA should endorse food facilities engaged in the production and processing of these products on the basis of a request from responsible entities. With the purpose to ensure execution of the relevant law, meetings were held with reps of companies engaged in importing such food products to our country from some states, including Poland, Lithuania and Brazil. During the meetings they were provided with detailed information on measures taken in the field of importing high-risk food and feed.

From November 15, restrictions will be imposed on the import of high-risk food products from enterprises that have not applied for approval, operating in Poland, Lithuania and Brazil.
