September 7, Fineko/abc.az. A new subsidy mechanism is being introduced in Azerbaijan for development of small-scale winemaking.

The measure is aimed at stimulating the production of premium wines from local grape varieties and development of agrotourism.

According to Agricultural Subsidy Council’s decision, a subsidy of 20,000 manats per hectare is provided for super-intensive gardens with an area of 5 to 20 hectares. Thus, the amount of support per household will range from 100,000 to 400,000 manats.

For intensive gardens of a similar area, the subsidy will be 10,000 manats per hectare, or from 50,000 to 200,000 manats per household.

In addition, a 60% discount will be provided on equipment purchased for the establishment of small wineries.

It is planned to create 20 new wine houses in Azerbaijan by 2030.
