September 3, Fineko/abc.az. Starting September 3, the customs value of goods imported into Azerbaijan will have to be declared only in Azerbaijani manats (AZN). Documents related to the declaration must be retained for three years.

According to Shahin Bagirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, the changes are aimed at increasing the country’s transit potential, digitalizing customs procedures, and reducing the administrative burden on businesses.

Under the new rules, multimodal shipments will be subject to a “single electronic declaration” principle and integrated with international transit systems.

The use of Authorized Economic Operator status will also be expanded, while administrative acts will be transferred to electronic format.

In addition, the concept of Trade Facilitation Centers will be introduced.
