September 7, Fineko/abc.az. A new mechanism for paying subsidies to agricultural producers will be introduced in Azerbaijan - part of the seed subsidy will be provided in advance.

Under the new rules, farmers who meet the established criteria will be able to receive 30% of the subsidy due to them in advance.

The advance payment will apply to farms with a sown area of 5 to 100 hectares, growing certain spring and winter annual crops and having a farmer rating above 30.

The mechanism is designed to provide farmers with working capital at the beginning of the agricultural season and facilitate the financing of expenses such as the purchase of seeds, fertilizers and fuel.

For example, a farmer eligible for a subsidy of 20,000 manats will receive 6,000 manats in advance. With a subsidy of 50,000 manats, the advance payment will amount to 15,000 manats.

In order to receive an advance payment, farmers' land plots must be declared in the Electronic Agricultural Information System (EKTIS). The readiness of land for sowing will be monitored using digital technologies and artificial intelligence-based solutions.
