September 12, Fineko/abc.az. Tesla and suppliers will invest $15 bn in a plant in Mexico, ABC.AZ reports, quoting the governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia.

"Tesla and its suppliers alone generate investments of $15 bn over 2 years," the governor said, adding that this "huge amount" would require the state to spend more on highways and other public works.

In March, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that his company would open a giga factory in the northern state of Nuevo Leon, part of the electric car maker's drive to expand its global presence.

At the time, Musk did not specify the details of Tesla's investments, but Mexican officials said the plant would require an investment of $5 bn.
