May 2, Fineko/abc.az. Microsoft has published its earnings report for the 3rd quarter of fiscal year 2023 (Jan-Mar 2023).
ABC.AZ reports that revenue for the specified period amounted to $52.9 bn, net profit — $18.3 bn. For comparison, revenue was $49.4 bn; net profit was $16.7 bn for Jan-Mar 2022.
The total revenue of Microsoft cloud services in the last quarter increased by 22% to $28.5 bn, according to the reports.
The revenue of division Intelligent Cloud, which includes Azure cloud service and the server software business, rose by 16% and reached $22.1 bn.
The Productivity & Business Processes division, which, in particular, develops suite of applications Office, increased revenue by 11% to $17.5 bn. It also includes social network LinkedIn, whose revenue grew by 8%.
Revenue from business More Personal Computing, including the Windows operating system, Xbox game consoles and Surface devices, fell by 9% to $13.3 bn. Revenue from the sale of licenses to use Windows fell by 28%, revenue from content and services for Xbox increased by 3%.
In the past quarter, the company returned $9.7 bn to shareholders through share buybacks and dividend payments.
Microsoft stock quotes at additional trading on Tuesday soared by 8.5% after the publication of the reports. The company's capitalization has grown by 13.8% over the past 3 months (to $2.1 trillion), while the Dow Jones Industrial Average stock index lost 0.6%.
