Chinese tech titans Huawei and Xiaomi have officially launched their next-generation foldable smartphones, intensifying competition in China's high-end mobile market just days before Apple's expected entry into the category. Huawei debuted its tri-fold Mate XT2 series, while Xiaomi unveiled the ultra-slim Xiaomi 18 Fold, both targeting the premium segment.

Both manufacturers are betting on custom silicon and advanced hardware integration to challenge Apple:

• Huawei Mate XT2: Powered by the proprietary Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, the device features enhanced water resistance and privacy screen technology, with prices starting at $2,980.

• Xiaomi 18 Fold: Weighing just 219g with an unfolded thickness of 5.02mm, the $1,540 smartphone is equipped with Xiaomi's custom 3nm XRing O3 AI processor and multi-window capabilities.
