April 20, Fineko/abc.az. Azersky, a satellite of remote observation of the Earth, operated by space agency Azerkosmos, completed its mission 1 year earlier than its planned service life, that is, in the 9th year of its operation.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the agency that data exchange with the satellite has stopped.

Azerkosmos and the satellite manufacturer took measures to restore communication, but it turned out to be impossible.

Azersky satellite is insured for the amount of AZN 45 million, and work has already begun on obtaining the insured amount.
During its stay in orbit, more than 80,000 satellite images with volume of half a petabyte were uploaded from Azersky satellite. Azerkosmos has formed an extensive archive of satellite images that play invaluable role in analyzing and predicting changes taking place on earth, including from angle of scientific research. The ground infrastructure and antenna systems installed in our country as part of Azersky project will be useful both from angle of use in subsequent satellite projects, and from angle of meeting the antenna needs of various foreign satellite operators on commercial terms.
