March 9, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is a multi-confessional, multi-ethnic country. The rights of minorities in Azerbaijan are protected by the Constitution.

ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the above-said statement on 9 March at the opening ceremony of the X Global Baku Forum on the theme "The World Today: Challenges & Hopes".

"Anyone who is familiar with the real situation in Azerbaijan can confirm that Azerbaijan is a country with high level of religious and ethnic tolerance, where representatives of various ethnic groups, various faiths live in peace and with dignity. Therefore, I am sure that the life of Armenians living in Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will be much better than during the occupation. Each conflict has its own history, its own dynamics and its own end. But it is important that disputes between countries are resolved on the basis of international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty cannot be changed by force," the head of state emphasized.
