October 24, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani government plans to receive a loan of $180 million for the modernization of the Azerbaijan thermal power plant, ABC.AZ reports with reference to a government source.

Azerenergy has prepared and submitted relevant proposals and a modernization program to the government.

The proposals were sent to three bodies. One of them agreed, the second one expressed dissatisfaction, and the third one remained neutral. After that, the project was revised three times, the latest version was approved.

Initially, modernization of the 6th and 7th TPP units is envisaged. This requires $180 million. As part of the investment, it is planned to install steam turbines at the Azerbaijan thermal power plant. According to preliminary estimates, if this is realized, Azerbaijan will be able to save 1.2 bn cu m of natural gas a year.
