President: Inflation rises to certainly high indicator of 18% for past 3 months

11:54 - 13.04.2022

April 13, Fineko/abc.az. "Over the past three months the inflation has risen to 18%. And this is, of course, a high figure," ABC.AZ reports, quoting President Ilham Aliyev as saying this at yesterday’s meeting dedicated to the results of Q1 of 2022.

"But we also need to know that imported inflation is part of it. As the rise in prices for foods and other goods in the world naturally affects prices in the country. But at that, I must say that in three months population’s income has increased by about 20%, and if we compare inflation with population’s income, then real income has increased here. But it is necessary to strengthen measures to combat inflation. Of course, the key issue here is the prevention of artificial price increases, since in such events, in such a geopolitical situation, some unscrupulous entrepreneurs are trying to take advantage of this and raise prices without any reason. Special attention should be paid to this," the Azerbaijani leader stressed.
