April 1, Fineko/abc.az. The city of Khankendi and other liberated territories are the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan and work on the creation of gas or other infrastructure in these territories can only be carried out by the Azerbaijani state.
ABC.AZ reports that this was stated by Teymur Jafarov, the head of the New Gasification & Development Department of gas supplier Azerigaz (production association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan; SOCAR).
He added that the Karabakh Economic Zone, including the city of Khankendi, was gasified by the Azerbaijani state in the 1980s: "The gas infrastructure was created there. During the subsequent Armenian occupation, most of the communications were destroyed and looted by the Armenians. Currently, Khankendi is supplied with natural gas. It is planned that at the next stages the gas infrastructure of these districts will be completely replaced and brought into line with modern requirements. Azerbaijani citizens will be able to use the advantages of the infrastructure to be built in these districts."
