Pfizer decides to halt investments in Russia

March 14, Fineko/abc.az. American pharmaceutical company Pfizer will suspend its planned investments in Russia, but at the same time will continue to supply medicines to the country, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the company.

"The voluntary suspension of the supply of our medicines to Russia will be a direct violation of our fundamental principle of patient priority. Stopping the supply of medicines, including for the treatment of cancer or cardiovascular diseases, will lead to significant suffering of patients and potential loss of life, especially among children and the elderly," the company says.

At that, Pfizer stated that maintaining supplies does not mean that it will continue to do business in Russia as usual.

"Although Pfizer does not own or operate any production sites in Russia, we will terminate all planned investments with local suppliers intended to increase production capacity in the country," the company’s statement says.
