August 4, Fineko/abc.az. There is a positive trend in the number of payment cards and indicators of non-cash use in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the semi-annual review of payment systems published by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

So, as of 1 July 2021 the number of payment cards in circulation amounted to 10.4 million cards, and 52% of those cards support contactless payments.

Compared with the same period of 2020, the number of payment cards increased by 16%, including contactless cards by 2.3 times.

Of the issued payment cards, 88% (9.2 million cards) were debit cards and 12% (1.2 million cards) - credit cards.
