June 30, Fineko/abc.az. Specifying the information spread in the press about the functioning of private currency exchange offices in Baku, we inform you that currently only banks and their branches, as well as branches and sub-branches of Azerpocht LLC, have the right to exchange currency, ABC.AZ was informed at the Central Bank.

In accordance with the Law on Currency Regulation the Central Bank does not issue licenses for currency exchange activities to other legal entities and individuals.

"It is illegal if any legal entity or individual other than the above-mentioned organizations deal with this type of activity. We recommend representatives of the media to conduct explanatory work with the Central Bank before they distribute this information, and provide information indicating the exact address, if they really encountered such facts, providing public support in preventing illegal currency activities," the country’s main bank said in a statement.
