November 5, Fineko/abcnews. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring the Russian assets of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) to the temporary management of a local entity named "Promyshlennye Aktivy".

JTI, which owns major tobacco brands including Winston, Camel, LD, and Sobranie, operates 4 factories and employs around 4,000 workers in Russia. Under a mechanism established in April 2023 to counter Western sanctions, Moscow has previously placed the local assets of global companies such as Nestle, Auchan, Metro Cash & Carry, Tarkett, and Ontex under Russian management. Putin emphasized that the measure does not constitute nationalization.
