November 5, Fineko/abc.az. There are significant differences in the preferences of foreign tourists coming to Azerbaijan, both depending on the region of stay and their country of origin.

According to statistics for the capital, a total of 3.486 million overnight stays of foreign tourists were registered in Baku, including 1.543 million tourists in hotels.

This means that Baku accounted for 82.3% of all overnight stays of foreign tourists registered in hotels in the country.

Country-by-country statistics show that out of 1.9 million overnight stays by tourists from Russia, only 12.5% were registered in hotels. The rest accounted mainly for rented housing, houses of relatives and friends, as well as private apartments.

At that, 63.1% of tourists from the USA, 56.2% of visitors from India and 52.5% of guests from China preferred hotels.

This data shows that the market of accommodation for foreign tourists in Azerbaijan is not limited to traditional hotel services, and the private housing sector accounts for a significant share of the total number of overnight stays.
