Economy minister announces important meeting

14:27 - 1.10.2026

October 1, Fineko/abc.az. The next meeting of the Consultative Council of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan will take place in a few days.

Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov stated about this at the CAMCA regional forum (Central Asia, Mongolia, South Caucasus and Afghanistan) in Baku.

He noted that the global economy is moving against the background of various contradictory trends: "On the one hand, we see that global growth is weakening, below the average for the previous two years. But at the same time, one of the reasons for this, of course, is the crisis that continues in the Middle East and is shaking energy markets, having huge impact on the global scale. On the other hand, we are seeing an increase in demand and economic opportunities due to digitization and, mainly, the introduction of artificial intelligence, as well as its side effects."

The minister noted that for a region with medium or small economy, for the most part, this is both a warning and an opportunity: "Because together we can offer something different: interconnected markets, larger markets, and, probably most importantly, human capital and talent. I believe that all this is relevant for CAMCA as well. As for Azerbaijan, in my opinion, the history is well known to everyone. Our economic history began with the Contract of the Century. Forms of energy consumption are changing. Yes, first there was oil, then there was gas, and today speech is about a green energy corridor aimed at the same customers and the same markets."
