September 10, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the Contribution Agreement signed with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) to ensure sustainable urban development in the Eastern Zangezur economic region.

According to the document, the Contribution Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Program for the implementation of project "Towards Integrated Territorial Plans for Sustainable, Smart and inclusive development of human settlements in the East Zangezur Economic Region of the Republic of Azerbaijan — Integrated Territorial Planning for Sustainable Urban Development", signed on July 15, 2026 in New York.

After the agreement enters into force, its provisions will be provided by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to send a notification to the Secretariat of the United Nations Human Settlements Program on the implementation of domestic procedures.
