July 24, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev has endorsed the Law on Crowdfunding passed by the Milli Majlis on July 14.

The new document regulates the legal, organizational and economic foundations of crowdfunding based on shares and debt obligations, the requirements for activities of the operator of the crowdfunding platform, as well as the issues of state regulation and supervision of their activities.

The purpose of the law is to create favorable conditions for prompt and sustainable access to alternative financing channels for economic entities, especially startups, micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises, by using information resources and systems, as well as capital market opportunities, in order to increase their business activity, and to ensure protection of the rights of investors involved in financing.

Crowdfunding activities, along with this law, are regulated by the country's Constitution, international treaties, the Civil Code, this law, the Laws on Countering the Legalization of Proceeds from Crime and the Financing of Terrorism, on Targeted Financial Sanctions, other regulatory legal acts, and the regulatory acts adopted by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan in accordance with them.
