July 17, Fineko/abc.az. The situation in Armenia's economy will worsen due to problems with the supply of agricultural products to Russia.
This opinion was expressed by political scientist Benjamin Matevosyan.
"After the ban on the import of Armenian agricultural products to the Russian market, the decline in exports of agricultural products and flowers from Armenia was 74.5%. The periods from June 1 to June 30, 2025, were compared with the same period in 2026. This is evidenced by the data from the Food Safety Inspection Authority of Armenia," Matevosyan said.
He added that, according to the Armenian Statistical Committee, Armenia's trade turnover with Russia decreased by $567 million to $2.2 billion in the first 5 months of 2026.
"The situation for the Armenian economy will only get worse, as the Russian Federation is not only not lifting the restrictions, but is also actively discussing and working on freezing Armenia's membership in the EAEU," Matevosyan noted.
