July 13, Fineko/abc.az. European countries set a record in the first half of 2026 for purchases of liquefied natural gas from Russian project Yamal LNG, the Financial Times reports with reference to analytical company Kpler.
Europe has imported more gas from Yamal LNG than ever before, effectively buying up almost all of the project's production in anticipation of a potential import ban.
The volume of purchases reached 9.89 million tons (18% higher against Jan-Jun 2025). The total value of the supplies is estimated to be up to 6 billion euros.
The Financial Times notes that those figures highlight that Europe continues to play a crucial role in supporting one of Russia's largest energy projects.
France, Belgium, and Spain are the main buyers of Russian LNG.
