July 2, Fineko/abc.az. American oil & gas corporation Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) will begin trading under the name ExxonMobil Holdings Corp. after its redomiciliation to Texas, marking the first name change for the company since its mega-merger with Mobil over 25 years ago.
Each ordinary share of the oil giant will be exchanged for one share of the new holding company, and the updated shares will begin trading on the market under previous ticker XOM as early as Thursday, according to the application submitted to the regulator. The shareholders approved the transfer of the legal registration from New Jersey to Texas at the annual meeting in May.
The last time the largest oil company in North America changed its name was in late 1999, when the merger of Exxon Corp. and Mobil Corp. created Exxon Mobil Corp. The Exxon brand itself was created in 1972, when Jersey Standard changed its name.
