June 25, Fineko/abc.az. In May 2026, 12.26 bn manats, or 70.4%, of deposits of individuals were stored in the national currency.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that in May, the assets of the banking sector increased by 3.2% and liabilities by 3.9%.

Term deposits made up 64.4% of overall deposits of individuals. In May, term deposits grew by 235.3 million manats, or 2.1%, while demand deposits declined by 81.3 million manats, or 1.3%.

In May, the number of unique term depositors in the banking sector increased by 3.1%, or 6,492 people, compared to the previous month. Since the beginning of the year, growth has been 11.3%, or 21,990 people.

The banking sector network also remains broad. At the end of May, there were 499 branches, 84 sub-branches, and 3,502 ATMs in the country. The number of people employed in the sector was 27,374.
