June 18, Fineko/abc.az. In the first quarter of 2026, individuals’ money transfers between Azerbaijan and Georgia amounted to $15.94 million.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that of this amount, $10.32 million accounted for transfers received from Georgia to Azerbaijan and $5.62 million for money sent from Azerbaijan to Georgia.

The transfers from Georgia to Azerbaijan increased by 53.2% year-on-year, reaching $10.32 million. At the same time, transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia decreased by 19.8% to $5.62 million.

As a result, Azerbaijan's positive balance in money transfers with Georgia reached $4.71 million. For comparison, in the first quarter of 2025, this figure was negative — minus $0.26 million. Thus, the balance improved by nearly $4.97 million over the year, moving from negative to positive.

In the first quarter of 2026, Georgia ranked sixth among the countries that source money transfers to Azerbaijan, making up 3.5% of the total revenue. At the same time, in terms of transfers from Azerbaijan abroad, it ranked fifth with a share of 5.4%.
