Quantity of payment cards grew up to 22.518 million cards for April

May 25, Fineko/abc.az. The number of payment cards in circulation through the systems of banks and Azerpocht LLC increased up to 22.518 million cards at the end of April.

ABC.AZ informs that compared with April 2025, this figure increased by 9%. The number of debit cards in payment cards grew by 11%, while the number of credit cards decreased by 11% to 2.45 million cards.

The growth of payment cards had positive impact on non-cash payments.

Since the beginning of 2026, the non-cash transactions within the country increased by 16% versus the 2025 same term. In April 2026, the non-cash payments within the country made with the use of cards reached 9.094 million manats. 7.969 million manats accounted for e-commerce. Of the remaining amount, card operations for 1.123 million manats were made through POS-terminals and for 2.5 million manats through self-service terminals and ATMs. Since the beginning of 2026, the non-cash domestic transactions with payment cards made up 69.9% of domestic card transactions.
