May 21, Fineko/abc.az. New deposits of rare earths have been discovered in China in the northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang and Jilin, which can make mining cheaper and easier, as well as reduce its environmental damage.
ABC.AZ informs that a study conducted by scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences showed that the new resources were formed as a result of multiple cycles of freezing and thawing and are characterized by a simpler extraction technology compared to the southern deposits.
It is estimated that this discovery could strengthen China's position, which already ensures nearly 90% of the world's processing of rare earths and more than 60% of their extraction, used in electric vehicles, electronics and defense industries.
