August 18, Fineko/abc.az. In January-July of this year, Azerbaijan exported 142,900 tons of tomatoes. According to the State Customs Committee (SCC), the total value of tomato exports reached $172.1 million.

Compared to the same period last year, tomato export volumes decreased by 669 tons (0.4%), while earnings increased by $15.1 million (9.6%). Revenue from tomato exports accounted for 0.9% of Azerbaijan's total export earnings.

During the first 7 months, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover reached $29 billion 216 million (+1.3% year-on-year). Exports accounted for $19 billion 336 million, while imports stood at $9 billion 881 million. Over the past year, exports surged by 27%, whereas imports declined by 27.4%. Consequently, the foreign trade balance posted a positive surplus of $9 billion 455 million, representing a 5.9-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
